Dr. Paul Gausman is currently the superintendent of schools for the Sioux City Community School District in Sioux City, Iowa. In this position, he has direct oversight of the educational process for more than 14,000 students and the work of 1,800 staff members in 30 student attendance centers. Sioux City Schools are celebrated for their focus on student achievement, progressive programming and high quality staff members.
Dr. Paul Gausman was formerly the superintendent of schools for the West Central School District in South Dakota. His past administrative experiences also include those as coordinator of middle school education and coordinator of fine and performing arts for the 20,000-student district of the Sioux Falls Schools in South Dakota. Dr. Paul Gausman’s teaching experiences include those as director of bands and fine arts department head at Millard West High School in Omaha, Nebraska, and as director of bands at Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln, as well as marching percussion instructor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Cornhusker Marching Band.
In addition to his duties in Sioux City, Dr. Paul Gausman is currently on staff as a performing artist/clinician with the Yamaha Corporation of America in the area of marching percussion, concert percussion, and drum set.
Dr. Paul Gausman holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, an education specialist degree from the University of Sioux Falls, a master of science degree in educational administration and supervision from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a bachelor of music education degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is affiliated with over 20 professional organizations in public school administration, education, and the arts.
