A couple of things to kick off your week
by Layne Henn
Only 6 weeks of this school year left here in Sioux City, anyway. My first year in the position of Curriculum and Technology Integration and I feel we have made strides towards the goal.
You may ask "What would that goal be, Layne?"
Here's the answer,
1. See Mission Statement first, then...
2. See Board Goals
3. and then realize that my job is to put technology in place that allows for all those things to happen. Seems broad right? Okay, more specifics include...
4. Increase Plato usage across district and specifically look at data to see if it's working. Data analysis is critical here. I want what is best for our students' learning.
5. Put technology in the classroom that allows teacher to reach students more effectively and creatively. Strides towards this goal with Document Cameras, Projectors and Classroom Response Systems.
6. Integrate Technology into professional development schedule. If we are teaching teachers, we should be using the same strategies and technology that we expect the teacher to use in the classroom. The Summer "Teaching with Technology Institute" will be starting SOON!
7. Collaborate, Collaborate, Collaborate. Technology Integration takes people, it doesn't exclude them. This position has allowed me to work with all different types of people and positions in our district. from Principals to directors, custodians to para-educators, teachers and most importantly STUDENTS. Everyday, Integrating technology is a team sport!
