Welcome Back! How exciting!

..New school year brings new technology all around the district!

by Layne Henn

Our technology department has been working behind the scenes all summer to put new technology in classrooms and labs throughout the district.  It is so exciting to see the new learning opportunities through technology are going to be available in schools 2008-2009.

Here's just a few things that have happened over the last 3 months:

  1. New or updated computer labs in 10different schools:
    Riverside
    Emerson
    Hunt
    Crescent Park
    Leeds
    Unity
    EMS
    NHS Media Center
    EHS Media Center
    WHS
  2. All the networking and technology in the new schools at Unity and Leeds Elementary.
These schools have some new technology including:

Document Cameras that capture still images and video,
    Student response systems,
    LCD projectors and
    Interactive White boards.
you can also see these new technology pieces being implemented in all schools around the district!
  3. Pinnacle Gradebook is in phase 3 of distribution. All middle school teachers will be using the Pinnacle gradebook to manage their classroom information, including grades, attendance and linking their standards and benchmarks to their lesson plans.
  4. Training has been ongoing throughout the summer with teachers who are implementing new technology in their classrooms. We have had courses for teachers regarding how to use the technology, creating lessons that implement the technology and creating web sites for their classrooms.
  5. District wide implementation of ParentLink, a messaging system for parents, students and staff for improving communication.
