The Human Resources Department is responsible for the
recruiting, staffing and placement of employees that will most
effectively meet the needs of the children and families we serve.
This includes our need to further diversify our employee population
through outreach efforts and creative recruiting strategies. We
also have the responsibility for employee relations, negotiations,
union contract administration, and the cost effective
administration of workers compensation and employee benefits. It is
our mission to provide quality service that exceeds the
expectations of those with whom we interact.
A Message from the Director
Thank you for your interest in the Sioux City Community School
District. The district offers an excellent package of compensation
and benefits along with a positive work environment, which ranks
among the best in the state of Iowa.
The Sioux City Community School District believes it is only

Our teacher induction (mentoring) program, which matches new
teachers with experienced veterans, offers new teachers a valuable
resource as they begin a challenging new career. We have also
discovered it is a wonderful way for our veterans to learn new
ideas and instructional concepts from those just entering the
field. This accentuates our belief that all employees can, and do,
add value. Our district is also very interested in building upon

last day the Sioux City Community School District will accept
