The Human Resources Department is responsible for the recruiting, staffing and placement of employees that will most effectively meet the needs of the children and families we serve. This includes our need to further diversify our employee population through outreach efforts and creative recruiting strategies. We also have the responsibility for employee relations, negotiations, union contract administration, and the cost effective administration of workers compensation and employee benefits. It is our mission to provide quality service that exceeds the expectations of those with whom we interact.

A Message from the Director


Thank you for your interest in the Sioux City Community School District. The district offers an excellent package of compensation and benefits along with a positive work environment, which ranks among the best in the state of Iowa.

The Sioux City Community School District believes it is only through our employees at all levels of the organization that we are able to deliver an excellent educational experience for the children of our community. We believe a partnering approach to problem solving is far more productive than one built upon confrontation and turmoil.

Our teacher induction (mentoring) program, which matches new teachers with experienced veterans, offers new teachers a valuable resource as they begin a challenging new career. We have also discovered it is a wonderful way for our veterans to learn new ideas and instructional concepts from those just entering the field. This accentuates our belief that all employees can, and do, add value. Our district is also very interested in building upon and increasing our employee diversity. The job information posted here is the current listings for open positions. Each position includes a closing date that indicates the last day the Sioux City Community School District will accept letters of interest for the position.

The application process is a two-step one. The first step is to file an application form. This form will be retained for a period of one year. A letter of interest must then be submitted for each position you wish to be considered for. The letter of interest must be received by the Sioux City Community School District Human Resource Department prior to the closing date for the position in order for your application to be considered.
