Beliefs, Mission and Goals
Belief Statement:
Professional Development is a shared vision that includes an
essential process for implementation and a continuous analysis for
relevant data that will create a positive climate for change and,
ultimately, increase student learning and achievement.
Mission Statement:
Educating all staff to educate every student!
Definition:
Professional Development is the process of improving staff skills
and competencies needed to produce outstanding educational results
for students.
Professional Development Goals:
*Continue to build capacity in buildings to promote data-driven
decision-making.
*Process: Building Leadership Teams (BLTs) & High
Acievement Teams (HAT)
*Plan: BLTs and HATs will use professional development as a
catalyst for using data to make critical curriculum and
instructional decisions.
*Accountability: Monitor achievement in reading, math, and
science through student achievement scores and teacher
implementation evidence.
Provide consistent, meaningful professional development for all
staff through the use of the Iowa Professional Development
Model.
*Process: Iowa Professional Development Model serves as a
framework for the development and delivery of all professional
development offerings in the district.
*Plan: Responsibility for professional development will be
shared between district and buildings but will always be focused on
the following primary goals:
- Elimination of district achievement gaps
- Encourage positive learning culture
- Improve student achievement district-wide
*Accountability: Monitor achievement in reading, math, and
science through student achievement scores and teacher
implementation evidence plus staff feed back.
