Kiwanis Club.

Personal Goal as a School Board Member:
Maintain quality education (class sizes) without property tax
increases, lobby against un-funded state and federal mandates, and
increase the tax base by increasing the attractiveness of Sioux
City schools to potential residents/businesses.
Family Background:
Married to Sioux City native/1980 East High School
Graduate Tami Clausen; son Nicholas EHS grad 2006 & U of
IA sophomore; daughter Jillian EHS junior; daughter Brooke EMS 6th
grader.
Community Activities:
Have served on the boards of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Siouxland
(Past President), the Optimist Club of Sioux City (Past President),
Siouxland Economic Development Corporation, the East High Raider
Spirit Foundation and Morningside Lutheran Church, and on the East
Middle School Site Council, the Nodland PTO & Dreams of Magic
Playground Committee, the SCCSD Long Range Planning and Assessment
Committee and as a Sunday School teacher, Y/SYA Basketball coach
and Sioux City Youth Football coach..

To continue our building program, achieve property tax equity,
continue and improve our gains in the area of student achievement
and achievement gaps, raise publics awareness of our successes and

Active in Masonic Bodies, past Board member of Rivercade, the Sioux
City Museum Board, The Crittenton Center, and the Sioux City Boat
Club

Family Background:
Long time-teacher in the school district; husband teacher/coach in
the school district; three sons Dennis, Jeff, and Mike.

of United Way of Siouxland, Board Member Siouxland CARES about
Substance Abuse

Personal Interest in the District: Has always been
involved with children and has a great concern for their proper
education.
Personal Background: Is a lifelong resident of Sioux
City and was educated in the Sioux City Public School system as
were her son and daughter.
Community Activities: Past PTA President at Isabelle
Sloan Grade School, Brownie Scout Leader, Sunday School teacher and
4-H Leader. Served on the United Way Board and the Sioux City Parks
and Recreation Board. Served as President of Local AFSCME
Union and was Recording Secretary for the Northwest Iowa Labor
Council. Member of the League of Women Voters. Is currently serving
on the Equity Committee for the School District and am chair of the
Policy Committee.
