Enrollment & Registration
Whether you are new to the district or you have been with us for sometime, we wish to thank you for giving us the opportunity to partner with you for your child’s education. Your child’s safety and achievement are our top priorities. Please know we will do everything we can to ensure that 2019-20 is a successful school year for you and your family. We have high quality staff members who work diligently to provide the best educational environment possible, and we always remember that great instruction occurs between a high quality teacher, involved parents, and a student who is willing to learn.
On this page, you will find everything you need to enroll and register your child with the Sioux City Community School District. Please refer to the menu items listed to the right for additional information.
New Families Enrollment
If you are a family new to the school district, or if you are returning to the district, you must complete the online form and schedule a visit at the Educational Service Center to enroll your children. Please call 712-279-6075 or 712-279-6840 (ESL), or email registration@siouxcityschools.org to make an appointment.

New Kindergarten Students
If your student will be 5 on or before September 15, and will be attending Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten in the 2020-21 School Year, you must complete the Online Pre-Registration for New Kindergarten Students, prior to your school’s Kindergarten Registration date(s). Entrance Requirement
Children who are five (5) years of age on or before September 15 may be admitted to kindergarten. Children satisfying the age requirement may be admitted not later than the fourth week of school without referral to the Director of Elementary Education.
Parents must provide proof of birth date. That proof may be an official birth certificate, passport, a hospital or physician document of birth, an adoption record, or any reliable document.
Health and immunization certificates are required, as provided by law. If the child is homeless, the child shall be provisionally enrolled. The District will then seek the child’s immunization records and refer the student to immunization sources if necessary.
Students transferring from other schools shall be placed in the grades indicated by their report cards or transcripts. Any subsequent change in classification shall be discussed with the parents. The final placement shall be determined by the principals. Students with no official transcript or report card may be given a placement test.
