Hunt A+ Arts Elementary is #FutureReady
Innovative teachers at Hunt A+ Arts Elementary school have created interactive and engaging lessons through new technologies. These lessons integrate the arts (dance, drama, music, and visual art) and four core-curriculum units to create a connected learning experience for every student.
#FutureReady Framework Meets the Arts and Core-Curriculum
Math (Addition) – As part of the GoMath curriculum, students practice addition facts and strategies using BeeBot coding robots and the Osmo’s app, which provides games that teach abstract concepts by connecting them to objects and actions in the physical world. Students use these tools individually, with partners, and in small groups.
Vocabulary – Each team utilizes Nearpod, a student engagement platform where educators can create presentations that can contain quiz’s, polls, videos, images, drawing boards, etc., to create engaging slide shows that encourage students to interact with new vocabulary.
Informative Writing – Throughout this unit, all three Future Ready teams work together to research ten different animals from various habitats around the world. Each classroom conducts research and shares information about each animal. Students then use various apps and technology to compose their formal written pieces.
Reading (Sight Words) – Students utilize apps such as SeeSaw and FlipGrid to practice sight words, to listen and read books of various genres, and engage in comprehension skills practice. SeeSaw is a student engagement app, which empowers students to “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. FlipGrid is a website that allows educators to create “grids,” which facilitate video discussions.
