Points of Pride
Our high schools are ranked in excellent performance. In 2018, all three Sioux City Community School District high schools were recognized by the Iowa AP Index as Top 50 Iowa Schools for the excellent performance of our students.
Our students are ready for life after high school. With opportunities like the Sioux City Career Academy, our students are making connections between their education and their future with meaningful, real-world experiences.
A “hands-on – minds on” approach. The District has five specialty schools, each with a focused theme, that use inquiry or performance/project based approaches to learning. Each school’s specialty theme is weaved into all learning experiences.
Technology is everywhere. We are committed to fostering and leading a culture of digital learning within our schools. For this reason, the Sioux City Community School District has been designated a #FutureReady District by the US Department of Education.
Our teachers are amazing! We know that excellent teachers lead to successful students – and you will find staff across the district who go above and beyond to serve students. View some staff highlights here.
Recognized for Music Excellence. The Sioux City Community School District was honored with the distinction of “2018 Best Communities for Music Education” by the NAMM Foundation.
New Family Information
Whether you’re new to the Siouxland area, or just our schools, welcome to our learning community.
The Sioux City Community School District exists to educate students to believe in their talents and skills, achieve academic excellence, and succeed in reaching their potential. With 20 schools and over 14,000 students, we understand the impact education has on children and families. We offer a strong academic program of studies that focus on improving student learning and achievement. By blending a solid-core curriculum and caring staff, our schools provide students with excellent opportunities for learning and growth.
The District uses the Common Core State Standards to ensure all students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, meet or exceed expected learning outcomes at every grade level. By following these standards, the District ensures our students develop the critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills needed to be successful now and into the future.
No matter what learning supports a student may need, the Sioux City Community School District fulfills the learning needs of all students. Enhanced learning supports are available for English language learners, students with special needs, as well as talented and gifted students.
