The Sioux City Community School District is proud to announce that North High School sophomore, Michael Toben, has garnered a coveted role in Carnegie Hall’s NYO2 national youth orchestra.

Students, ages 14-17, from all over the nation audition for NYO2, and only a few coveted spots are available for each instrumental section of the orchestra. From the nationwide pool, only two tubists are selected for NYO2 – one tubist for the main orchestra and one alternate. Michael is honored as the alternate for the 2021 summer NYO2 national youth orchestra.

Each summer, NYO2 comes together alongside the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and NYO Jazz for intensive training and performance opportunities. Participating musicians have the opportunity to work closely with top players from American orchestras and conservatories during a residency at Purchase College, State University of New York.
