Meal Access for Hybrid Learners and Virtual Learners
Students engaged in Hybrid Learning or Virtual Learning have access to daily meals, Monday through Friday. Hybrid Learners can come to their home school to pick up meals on Wednesdays, and the two days the students learn from home. Virtual Learners can also pick up meals Monday through Friday. Meal distribution is available for all virtual learners, which includes students participating in elected Virtual Learning and students participating in emergency response Virtual Learning. Following is the meal distribution schedule for Virtual Learners and for students that will pick up meals on the Hybrid days when they are home.
Meal Distribution Schedule
(Regular lunch service for on-site Hybrid Learners begins in the elementary buildings at 10:45 am.)
9:45 am – 10:10 am
(Regular lunch service for on-site Hybrid Learners begins in the middle school buildings at 10:27 am.)
10:00 am – 10:30 am
(Regular lunch service for on-site Hybrid Learners begins in the high school buildings at 11:21 am.)
Directions for Meal Pick Up
A grab and go breakfast and lunch will be available for pick up at the student’s school of enrollment. The distribution times for students to pick up meals occur before the traditional lunch service provided to on-site learners. Meals distributed to Virtual Learners or Hybrid students learning from home are “grab and go.” Students must take meals off-site to consume them.
Paying for School Meals
Meals are available to students enrolled in the Sioux City Community School District.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved FREE Breakfast and Lunch for Sioux City Community School District students starting September 14, 2020. Free meals will be available through the end of the 2020-21 school year. Learn more about the USDA free meal program.
