Board Policy Committee Minutes – May 5, 2020

The Board Policy Committee (BPC) met on May 5, 2020, at 3:30 p.m. remotely via Teams.

Committee Members Present: Dr. Paul Gausman, Perla Alarcon-Flory, Dr. Juli Albert, Jeremy Saint
and Cyndi Lloyd

Committee Members Absent: None

Guests: Dr. Kim Buryanek and Attorney Maureen Heffernan

Addendum to Resolution: Dr. Paul Gausman and Attorney Maureen Heffernan

Conclusion: Dr. Gausman and Attorney Maureen Heffernan explained the purpose of an Addendum
to Resolution that the Board approved on March 23, 2020. This Addendum gives the Superintendent permission to make quicker decisions due to the current COVID-19 situation. The Addendum was a recommendation of IASB. The proposed Addendum to Resolution was approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for approval on Monday, May 11, 2020.

Temporary Change to BP605.4 and AR605.4 Graduation Requirements: Dr. Paul Gausman

Conclusion: Dr. Gausman informed the Committee that he worked with his team to prepare a
temporary change to BP605.4 and AR605.4 Graduation Requirements due to the current situation of COVID-19. Dr. Gausman gained Committee approval to implement when necessary.

Temporary Change to BP681.10 Pass / No Pass Grading Policy: Dr. Paul Gausman

Conclusion: Dr. Gausman informed the Committee that he worked with his team to prepare a
temporary change to BP681.10 Grading Policy to a Pass / No Pass Grading Policy due to the current situation of COVID-19. A couple of minor revisions will be made to this temporary policy and then implemented when Dr. Gausman deems necessary

BP 204.8 – Agenda Planning: Attorney Maureen Heffernan

Conclusion: At the request of the Policy Committee, Attorney Maureen Heffernan shared additional
proposed revisions to a new policy re: Agenda Planning. The Policy Committee discussed and
finalized the proposed new policy. BP 204.8 was approved as revised and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, May 11, 2020.

The next Board Policy Committee meeting will be held May 26, 2020.
