Board Policy Committee Minutes – February 16, 2021

The Board Policy Committee (BPC) met on Tuesday, February 16, 2021, at 3:30 p.m.

Committee Members Present:  Dr. Paul Gausman, Perla Alarcon-Flory, Jeremy Saint, and Cyndi Lloyd

Committee Members Absent: Taylor Goodvin

Guests: Mandie Mayo, Dr. Kim Buryanek, Rich Luze, Tim Paul, and Attorney Maureen Heffernan

BP 1001.80 – Distribution of Non-District Materials: Mandie Mayo

Conclusion: BP 1001.80 was reviewed and edited by Mandie Mayo and Attorney Maureen Heffernan. Revisions to BP 1001.80 were approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. NOTE: Revisions to AR1001.80 were approved on November 17, 2020.

BP 203.2 – Community / Advisory Committees: Dr. Kim Buryanek and Mandie Mayo

Conclusion: BP 203.2 was reviewed and edited by Dr. Buryanek, Mandie Mayo and Attorney
Maureen Heffernan. Revisions to BP 203.2 were approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

NOTE: School Improvement Advisory Committee and Educational Equity Committee will remain as two separate committees, but will collaborate when necessary.

AR 203.2 – Appointments to Community / Advisory Committees: Dr. Kim Buryanek and Mandie Mayo

Conclusion: AR 203.2 was reviewed and edited by Dr. Kim Buryanek, Mandie Mayo, and Attorney
Maureen Heffernan. AR 203.2 will be included in the February 19 Informational Update and updated
on the District website once the policy has been approved by the Board. NOTE: Committee openings are advertised through the District’s website, social media, and digital efforts.

BP 710.1 – School Nutrition Program: Rich Luze and Tim Paul

Conclusion: BP 710.1 was reviewed and edited by Rich Luze and Attorney Maureen Heffernan. This
policy will be reviewed annually prior to approving the District’s budget. Revisions to BP 710.1 were
approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

AR 710.1 – School Nutrition Program: Rich Luze and Tim Paul

Conclusion: AR 710.1 was reviewed and edited by Rich Luze and Attorney Maureen Heffernan.
AR 710.1 will be included in the February 19 Informational Update and updated on the District website once the policy has been approved by the Board. NOTE: Revisions to 710.1-E will be updated on the District’s website once the policy is approved by the Board.

BP 1004.13 – Use of District-Owned Vehicles: Jim Vanderloo and Tim Paul

Conclusion: BP 1004.13 was reviewed and edited by Jim Vanderloo and Attorney Maureen
Heffernan. Ms. Heffernan recommended changing the Policy Number to 810.1 as it seemed more
appropriate in Series 800 Business Procedure since it does not apply to community members but
toward staff. Revisions to BP 1004.13 were approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

BP 1027 – Public Conduct on School Premises: Jim Vanderloo and Tim Paul

Conclusion: BP 1027 was reviewed and edited by Jim Vanderloo and Attorney Maureen Heffernan.
Revisions to BP 1027 were approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for
first reading on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

The next Board Policy Committee meeting will be held March 17, 2021.
