Board Policy Committee Minutes – October 19, 2021

The Board Policy Committee (BPC) met on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 3:30 p.m.

Committee Members Present: Dr. Paul Gausman, Taylor Goodvin and Cyndi Lloyd

Committee Members Absent: Perla Alarcon-Flory and Jeremy Saint

Guests: Dr. Jen Gomez, Jim Vanderloo, Tim Paul and Attorney Maureen Heffernan

BP 503.5 – Title I Parent & Family Engagement: Dr. Jen Gomez

Conclusion: Reviewed on an annual basis, BP 503.5 was reviewed by Dr. Brian Burnight and Attorney Maureen Heffernan with no suggested revisions. BP 503.5 was approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

BP 711 – Use of Recording Devices / Cameras on School Property: Dr. Jen Gomez

Conclusion: BP 711 was reviewed by the Policy Committee on September 21 and brought forward to
the full Board for first reading on September 27. The Board requested BP 711 be pulled for further
review and creation of an Administrative Regulation (AR). BP 711 was approved as presented and
will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

AR 711 – Use of Recording Devices / Cameras on School Property: Dr. Brian Burnight and Dr. Jen Gomez

Conclusion: AR 711 was created by Attorney Maureen Heffernan and reviewed by Dr. Brian Burnight
and Dr. Jen Gomez. AR 711 was approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board
for acknowledgement on Monday, October 25, 2021.

BP 691.1 – School Calendar: Dr. Jen Gomez

Conclusion: Reviewed on an annual basis, BP 691.1 was reviewed by Dr. Jen Gomez and Attorney
Maureen Heffernan with no suggested revisions. BP 691.1 was approved as presented and will be
brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

BP 709.3 – Student Transportation for Extracurricular Activities: Jim Vanderloo

Conclusion: Reviewed on an annual basis, BP 709.3 was reviewed and edited by Jim Vanderloo and
Attorney Maureen Heffernan. Revisions to BP 709.3 were approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

BP 709.9 – Transportation of Nonresident and Nonpublic School Students: Tim Paul

Conclusion: Reviewed on an annual basis, BP 709.9 was reviewed by Tim Paul and Attorney Maureen Heffernan with no suggested revisions. BP 709.9 was approved as presented and will be brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

BP 709.10 – Summer School Program Transportation Service: Tim Paul

Conclusion: Reviewed on an annual basis, BP 709.10 was reviewed by Tim Paul and Attorney
Maureen Heffernan with no suggested revisions. BP 709.10 was approved as presented and will be
brought forward to the full Board for first reading on Monday, October 25, 2021.

The next Board Policy Committee meeting will be November 16, 2021.
