Board of Student Achievement Committee Minutes – January 3, 2022

The Board Student Achievement Committee (SAC) met on Monday, January 3, 2022 at noon in the
Educational Service Center Board Room.

Committee Members Present: Dr. Paul Gausman, Dr. Kim Buryanek, Monique Scarlett, Bob
Michaelson and Jan George

Guests Present: Patty Blankenship, Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, and Dan
Greenwell

Modified Supplemental Amount for At-Risk / Dropout Prevention

Dr. Kim Buryanek and Patty Blankenship presented the Modified Supplemental Amount for At-Risk/Dropout Prevention proposal for FY23. The Modified Supplemental Amount for At Risk/Dropout Prevention ensures at-risk students are provided resources and supports that focus on improving attendance, academic achievement and behavior. The funds support the following interventions/programs:

  • Alternative Programs
  • School Within a School
  • i-JAG
  • Academic Supports
  • Graduation Coaches
  • Juvenile Court Liaisons
  • School Resource Officers
  • Transition Support Program
  • Credit Recovery
  • Attendance Specialists
  • Mental Health Services
  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring

Ms. Blankenship shared a breakdown of the levy and carryover amounts for FY18 through FY23. With no carryover for FY23, the District proposes to levy the full amount of $5,372,769. The Modified Supplemental Amount for At-Risk/Dropout Prevention proposal will be shared at the January 10 Board Meeting.

Meeting Schedule

The Committee agreed to meet Wednesday’s at noon in the ESC Board Room. The meetings will reoccur on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
