Kim Burrack shared community partners’ concern about lack of funding. Many programs increased their enrollment from the 2020-21 and do not have the funds to support this year’s enrollment with funding a year behind. Committee members shared grant opportunities available to licensed childcare centers. Kim also shared community partners concern over lack of early childhood certified teachers. They are not able to partner with us without having a properly endorse Iowa certified teacher.
Kim Burrack shared a comparison of fall IGDI math and literacy screenings data between Northwest AEA as a whole and Sioux City Preschool Initiative. Northwest AEA fall literacy data for 3 out of the 4 sub-screenings was 1-4 percent higher than Sioux City Preschool Initiative. One sub-screening, Picture Naming, Sioux City Preschool Initiative was 3 percent higher than Northwest AEA. Fall math data was similar between Northwest AEA and Sioux City Preschool Initiative because Sioux City made up most of the students screening in Northwest AEA for math.
