Transportation and Summer School Details for West High
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Recently, Dr. Gausman announced plans for summer school. As a parent/guardian of a child who was enrolled in Algebra I or Principles of Algebra and Geometry (PAG) at West High School, you are receiving this message to provide more details about the upcoming summer school program. Please plan to have your child attend.
The school closures at the end of last school year resulted in lost instructional time. The summer school program is dedicated to helping students learn critical information that was missed and to revisit important lessons that are key to success in the upcoming school year. The academic focus is for Algebra and Principles of Algebra and Geometry. We are expecting and preparing for all students that were enrolled in these two classes to be at summer school.
When
Summer school will be held August 3 – August 14. Attendance for each grade level or course is split in half. Students with last names beginning with A-M will attend class from 8:30-10:30. Students with last names beginning N-Z will attend summer school from 11:00-1:00. We will work alongside the coordinators of school sponsored camps and practices so that they schedule students so that they can participate in both.
Preparing for Summer School
Your child’s safety and well-being is a high priority. As an extra safety measure, students and staff will be expected to bring a mask or shield to school daily. During movement outside of the classroom, such as walking in the hallway to different classes, students and staff will be expected to wear a mask or shield. Students are encouraged to bring their own mask or shield to school.
The only school supplies needed for summer school are pencils. All other materials will be provided.
In the weeks ahead, I will be sending you more timely updates, including details about meal distribution. Meals will be provided to all students.
Transportation will be available for all students. Each school has several identified bus stops where students can board the bus for school. If you would like to have your child ride the bus, please plan to have your child get on and off the bus at the stop closest to your home. Here is the bus schedule for West High School:
