The Wolverines had a great day on Friday wrestling in the Clearwater Nebraska 8 wrestlers medaled out of 14. Please congratulate the following wrestlers on their finishes:
3rd place: Alec Fletcher, Luis Cota
4th Place: Noah Thooft (tuft), Kaden Buss, Logan Mannion, Blake Hansen, Antonio Medina, Jaxon Howe
This next Saturday, Feb. 15 wrestlers will head to Fort Dodge to wrestle at districts. 1st and 2nd place advance to state wrestling the following week. Wish all the wrestlers good luck as we head towards districts on Saturday.

Dating abuse can happen to anyone regardless of gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic standing, ethnicity, religion, or culture
(February is also LGBT history month!) Wear Rainbow colors to show our love and support for our fellow classmates!
Tuesday (11): NATIONAL ORANGE DAY – WEAR ORANGEWear Orange 4 Love Day is on the second Tuesday of February
Wednesday (12): STATS DAY (1 IN 3) – Wear a shirt with a number
1 in 3 young people will experience dating abuse (physical, sexual violence)

Show our love for West High by wearing our school colors!

We have had several reports of reckless driving in the parking lots. School officers will be on watch and may issue citations for drivers not utilizing safe driving practices. Let’s help keep west safe and follow basic traffic safety rules and laws.
The NAACP will be hosting an event of historically black colleges along with college admissions information on Tuesday, February 18 at 6pm located at the Sioux City Public Library.
WEST club will taking orders for “sweets for your sweetheart” starting today through Feb. 12. We are offering goodie bags in 3 sizes: small for $1, medium for $3, and large with a stuffed animal for $5. Order from a member of WEST club or stop by Ms. O’Neill’s room (117).

Attention seniors: Yearbook is looking for senior students willing to provide a quote and photo to be placed in the yearbook. Quotes and photos will not be selected if they are incomplete, inappropriate or disrespectful. SCCSD TRAFFIC EDUCATION CLASSES TO BE OFFERED SUMMER SCHOOL 2020
Sioux City, IA – The Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD) plans to offer two sessions of Traffic Education for the summer of 2020. The first session of classes will run June 1 – June 30 and the second session will run June 29 – July 28.
Classes will be Monday through Friday, however some driving sessions may have to happen on weekends in order to have all students complete the session in four weeks.
Registration for summer Traffic Education will begin on Monday, March 2 with the deadline for all registrations ending on Friday, March 27. Cost for the class will be $385. (School waivers are accepted for Summer School.)
In order to register:
You must be 14 years of age.
You must have a valid Iowa learner’s permit.
A complete deposit for the class fee must be made to the high school you are registering at in order to be completely registered.
Registration forms must be filled out at the main offices of one of the three Sioux City public high schools (East High, North High, and West High). Students must complete the registration at the school they plan to attend. Registrations will not be accepted by mail or email. The student’s permit and the payment fee must be presented at the time of registration.
Registration is limited to the number of available openings at each school (West High, North High and East High). Enrollment will be accepted, based on the date order in which registration forms are received, until capacity is met. Students placed on a waiting list are not guaranteed a place in the summer class. Just a reminder, students should remain on campus for lunch. No food from outside vendors is permitted.

Teachers are available after school each week for Tutoring and Night School.
After-School Tutoring is available Tuesday & Wednesday after school until 4:00 p.m.
Night School is available Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Connections Area Agency on Aging is looking for volunteers for their Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group during the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. If you are interested, please call Jan Schnach at 800-432-9209 ext. 8116.

Are you working on earning your Silver Cord or meeting community service requirements? VolunteerSiouxland.org is the place to go. This is an online volunteer center for Siouxland, and there are now more than 100 nonprofit organizations on Volunteer Siouxland, with more than 50 active needs for volunteers on any given day. It is absolutely the EASIEST way for students to find and sign up for volunteer opportunities. It is also the easiest way to track their volunteer hours – confirmed by the organization. We have even added a field to volunteer profiles so they can identify which school they attend, allowing us to provide reports to the schools.
