Anyone interested in football for Fall 2019, please meet in the auditorium during homeroom Tuesday 2/12.
All wrestlers, you will turn your wrestling gear in tomorrow right after school in the wrestling room.
SENIORS – if you did not get a chance to vote on Friday for the senior favorites, be sure to see Ms. Stephens by the end of the day today to fill out your ballot.
After School tutoring is available every Tuesday – Thursday 3:00 – 4:00. If you need help catching up or help with current assignments come to the media center after school. Transportation is provided.
Do you want to make a difference at West High? Are you ready to connect with freshman as they navigate their first year of high school? The Freshman Mentoring Program is taking applications for mentors now through February 28. The application is an online form, https://goo.gl/oPyGAT , that is available in the Freshman House Office from Mrs. Cleveland.
Anyone that is interested is encourage to apply.
All non-winter participating athletes the first track practice of the season will begin Feb 11. Those that don’t already, please have your code of conduct & physicals taken care of! You can’t participate in any practices until those are taken care of! Practice will begin promptly at 2:45pm on Mon., Feb 11. Everyone is to meet in the weight room!

The Sioux City Community Schools plan to offer two, four and half week sessions of Traffic Education for the summer of 2019.
First session classes will begin Wednesday, May 29 and end Friday, June 28. Second session classes will begin Wednesday June 26 and end Friday July 26. Classes will be Monday through Friday; however, some driving sessions may have to happen on weekends in order to have all students complete in four weeks. Registration for Summer Traffic Education will begin on Monday, March 4 with the deadline for all registrations ending on Wednesday March 29. Cost for the class will be $385. (School waivers are accepted for Summer School.) Registration forms must be filled out at the high school of choice at the time of registration. You must sign up at the high school you intend to attend. No registrations can be mailed or emailed in as spots are limited. In order to register, you must be 14 years of age. You must bring valid Iowa Learner’s permit, and the complete deposit for the class fee to one of the three public high schools that you wish to attend this summer. Registrations are limited. Students are accepted for the course, based on the number of openings available at each school and are on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Beyond the Bell is looking for volunteers to help with their Mobile Food Pantry at Hunt Elementary. This takes place every 3rd Tuesday of the month. from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.
(Dates: February 19, March 19, April 16, May 21)
Noah’s Hope Animal Rescue is looking for volunteers during the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month. Hours are Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00p.m. and Sundays from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Location is Pet Smart at Lakeport Commons.

This is an online volunteer center for Siouxland, and there are now more than 100 nonprofit organizations on Volunteer Siouxland, with more than 50 active needs for volunteers on any given day. It is absolutely the EASIEST way for students to find and sign up for volunteer opportunities. It is also the easiest way to track their volunteer hours – confirmed by the organization. We have even added a field to volunteer profiles so they can identify which school they attend, allowing us to provide reports to the schools.
