Due to the extremely cold temperatures, there will be no school tomorrow - Thursday, February 20 - in the Sioux City Community School District. Thank you.

This week our 4th grade Eagles had a fabulous experience with their Lego Brick Lab units connected to social studies and literacy. The students researched and completed a test build of Iowa & another state of their choice. They constructed the state's shape, bird, flower, tree, etc. Such a wonderful and engaging time for all.

Yesterday we were able to share our Teacher of the Year announcement with our students as well! Congratulations Mrs. Mullally!

Special thanks to Tiger-Rock for collaborating with our Physical Education program to integrate a fun & engaging way to reinforce discipline, confidence, strength & fitness that align with our weekly lessons this past week. Our Eagles enjoyed & jumped right into the experience.

Due to the weather, the Sioux City Community School District will have a two-hour late start today - Tuesday, February 11. Thank you.

Today we were able to pause and celebrate our Morningside Teacher of the Year at PD -- Mrs. Jodie Mullally! Thank you for all the intentional connection and experiences of learning you bring to your Eagles daily!

Morningside Eagles -- It's time for our January Eagle Hall of Fame announcement!

Our 3rd Grade Eagles reached their PBIS goal this past week and celebrated their efforts together with an Art in the Hallway/Classroom celebration. Way to SOAR on Eagles. Let's have a great start to
February!

Another big congratulations to our very own Mrs. Miller! We're lucky to have her here at Morningside.

We are truly grateful for our committed Eagle staff. We've had the opportunity to come together for back-to-back January PD that has focused on Eagle connections, wellness, and review of our progress toward shared building goals for SEL and literacy. From our hallway Island visits to our whole group PD and engaged collaborating in PLCs, we've embarked upon our next steps together for quarter 3.

Our Eagle focus in January has been going strong. Classrooms are engaged with our Benchmark Advance and Into Math resources daily, and integrating valuable learning about MLK this past week.

Due to the weather, Sioux City Community Schools will have a two-hour late start tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21. School will begin at the following times: Elementary School - 10:30 am; Middle School - 9:45 am; and High School - 9:55 am. Please note that tomorrow is a "B" Day for our middle and high schools.

EMS counselors and peer helpers stopped by today to talk with incoming Spartans -- our 5th Grade SOARing Eagles. Students were attentive, intrigued and filled with inquiry about the transition to middle school. We are so proud of their progress and look forward to even more!

This past week, our Eagle students completed the PBIS boot camp to review expectations here at Morningside Elementary. They did a great job showing and reviewing SOARing behavior!

It's been chilly, but such a wonderful week being back together. From teacher time during literacy using our small group Benchmark materials, to 1st grade using their map and direction skills to find special treasure, and even our PK exploring the building to compare and document various light sources, students and staff have jumped right back into this SOARing thing we call :) learning.

Morningside Eagles -- It's time for our Eagle Hall of Fame announcement! I hope everyone has a great break!

It's growing near... get ready for some pics of all the wonder and magic that's been happening throughout the 1st half of the year! Here's just a few filled with holiday cheer!

STEM creations with a tasty twist in our 1st Grade.

Every day is a great day to visit Mside STEM -- have a wonderful holiday break Eagle families. Stay warm and safe!
