Sioux City, Iowa – Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) IA-20151 Misty Cadets plan two special events on Thursday, November 11 in recognition of Veterans Day.
At 11 am, cadets will present their annual Veterans Day ceremony at Girls Inc., located at 500 Main Street in Sioux City. The Misty Cadets will present “The War Within,” a presentation highlighting the “internal war” experienced by those who served. The cadets hope to increase awareness and respect for those that face everyday battles in their minds after fighting for the country’s liberty.
Veterans, family, and friends are invited to arrive between 10 am and 10:45 am for refreshments and light snacks before the start of the program. At 10:45 am, veterans will assemble for the ceremony and playing of “Armed Forces Salute,” before the presentation begins at 11 am.
Additionally, cadets will perform their 12-hour vigil at the Sergeant Floyd Monument beginning at 5 am on November 11. The vigil will close at 5 pm with a Remembrance Ceremony, remembering those who have served or are still serving.
