Dr. Rod Earleywine interim superintendent picture

Sioux City, Iowa –The Board of Directors for Sioux City Community Schools has selected Dr. Rod Earleywine as interim superintendent for the school district, effective July 1, 2022.

Earleywine has a long educational career in Siouxland, including a 27-year career with Sergeant Bluff – Luton Community Schools. He currently serves as superintendent for the school district, a position he has held for the last 15 years. The school district has achieved multiple accolades under Earleywine’s leadership including the renovation of the district’s high school building, improved financial solvency, and statewide recognition for student achievement.

Prior to his superintendent role, Earleywine served as a middle school principal with Sergeant Bluff – Luton Community Schools in addition to teaching and coaching positions in the Siouxland area.

“I look forward to serving the Sioux City Community School District as interim superintendent,” says Earleywine. “I believe that my experience as an educational leader and knowledge of Sioux City Community Schools will make a positive impact. I look forward to working alongside the Board, staff, students, and families to continue the District’s long history of educational excellence.”

During the April 25 board meeting, Sioux City Community Schools Board Chair Dan Greenwell said that Earleywine brings a level of experience that will serve the District well in the next year as the board of directors begins the formal search process for a permanent superintendent.

“The Board of Directors is pleased that Dr. Earleywine will lead our district next school year, ensuring the District remains on a successful track and advances the education of students in our community,” says Greenwell.

Earleywine replaces Dr. Paul Gausman who has resigned his position with Sioux City Community Schools to become the new superintendent of Lincoln Public Schools.
